Great historical location in the heart of Los Angels! Authentic and a great look into the past. The history here is beautiful and the stuff does a great job keeping this casa clean and informative. Fruit and agriculture within the property is lively and well taken care of.

The Avila Adobe, located in the historic heart of Los Angeles at Olvera Street, is a hidden gem that offers a glimpse into the city's rich past. As the oldest standing residence in Los Angeles, this adobe home tells a story of the city's early Mexican and Californian heritage. My visit to the Avila Adobe was a step back in time. The well-preserved adobe house, with its thick walls and rustic charm, provides a sense of what life was like in the early 19th century. The authentic period furnishings and exhibits offer insights into the daily lives of the Avila family, who once inhabited this historic structure. One of the highlights of the Avila Adobe is the serene courtyard, adorned with vibrant flowers and shaded by lush trees. It's a peaceful oasis in the midst of the bustling Olvera Street, making it a perfect place to relax and reflect on the city's history. While the Avila Adobe is a relatively small site, it packs a big historical punch. It's a valuable addition to any visit to Olvera Street, offering a unique perspective on Los Angeles' cultural heritage. In conclusion, the Avila Adobe is a captivating window into the city's past, providing a charming and educational experience. Whether you're a history enthusiast or simply curious about the city's origins, a visit to this historic site is well worth your time.

Avila Adobe is the oldest house still existing in Los Angeles. It's located in the historical district of Olvera Street, which once was the heart of the new city of Los Angeles at the time of Spanish domination. Visiting the interiors is free, so I recommend that you go inside and take a look. Everything is perfectly maintained and gives you a nice idea on the lifestyle of the early 1800s.

Super loved this historical spot. Grape vines that have been there for over 150 years. My sister and I did pick some grapes and enjoyed them. They were actually super good and sweet. Lol. A lot of different fruit and vegetable trees, we didn't pick any other fruits though. The tour guides were very helpful, one even said he did have a bachelor's in history. We spent about 45 mins there, but I can see how others can just walk in and walk out. The exhibit felt very close to home.

Oldest house in Los Angeles, the "Avila Adobe" built in 1818. A little golden nugget tucked in La placita Olvera. If you aren't looking intently for it, you might as well miss the fact that it is a museum open to the public. Best part, it was open on a Monday. Truly a treasure.

Free museum with exhibits about the lives of the Avila family during the Spanish times. Its one of the few places that people actually come and see the history of a house and its inhabitants.

Okay if you happen to be near downtown LA you should definitely come to this Adobe located near the famous Placita Olvera! :-) there is free admission to the Avila Adobe this is the oldest existing house in Los Angeles. Give me the belt about 1818 I don't own a villa and it was occupied briefly as American headquarters in 1847. It was severely damaged in the earthquake of 1971, the house is not restored as an example of California lifestyle in the 1840s!
